Being An Engineering and Management Graduate, my mind was always into making creative things. As being the eldest son in the family, I have the responsibility of reducing my father’s burden. He had a long stint of work in abroad. He had worked so hard in the extremely hard environments.
After a long discussion, I decided to step into the business of making a Super Market in my home town “Puthur” in between the temple towns of “Chidambaram” and “Sirkali”.
For every son in this world, his mother will be the biggest pillar of support. In my story also, it was the same. My mother “Mangai” was my everything. She was my best friend since from my childhood. With her, I can be without any sort of inhibitions.
She trusted me and stood by me. We started the construction of our dream business and launched it on 10th May 2017.
We wanted to name our brand as a unique one. After lot of brain storming, we decided to go for the name “Nine 2 Nine”. That means we operate from Morning 9 to Night 9.
It was started as a single floor shop.
What happened after our launch was, people in my locality was afraid to step into our super market. They were scared that the prices will be high due to the atmosphere of our shop.
They were not used to such kind of big super markets before. All they shop were local grocery shops. It was a challenge for us to make them understand about our pricings and gradually they have accepted us.
We have decided to stick on our principles in business such as providing products in best price, treat the customers with utmost respect and care, provide them good service.
Our workforce is filled with 80% of the women and we hired them through our internal circles. So, it was like a family. We all worked with the single goal of making “Nine 2 Nine” as a better organization.
Eventually over the years we gained trust from the customers and started making decent revenue out of our business.
We found the need of a good “Tea Outlet” in our area and started “Nine 2 Nine Snacks Corner”. To our greatest astonishment, our Snacks Corner started picking up very well and “Nine 2 Nine Snacks Corner” became one of our major clients as we are supplying to that organization as well.
Then with the support of our customers, vendors and with my mother’s support, we constructed second floor and now we are moving towards the construction of the third floor. More than my effort, its my mother’s hard work and sheer determination is a reason for this success of ours. As a mother she took great care of me and my brother. Same way, she started nurturing our brand. With her guidance and support, we are in a very good level.
Our goal is to employ more of women and give them a good livelihood and start a chain of stores in Tamilnadu.
